WV cops receive 200 assault rifles, vehicles

The Police Regional Office 6 has started distributing 200 Galil Ace 22N brand new assault rifles to policemen assigned in high-risk municipal and city police stations in Negros Occidental and Panay provinces.

Of the distributed firearms, 13 were received recently by the Himamaylan City Police Station in Negros Occidental, as requested by Mayor Raymund Tongson.

The Cauayan Police Station in Negros Occidental also received one of the five brand new 4×2 Toyota HiLux patrol vehicles, Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-6, said.

Malong said the firearms and patrol cars will boost police operations as part of intensified security campaign and enhance the operational capability of the region. The firearms and vehicles received by PRO 6 from Camp Crame forms part of the P1.2-billion worth of guns, police vehicles and radio equipment procured by the PNP under its Capability Enhancement Program.*
