Domestically traded commodities transported through water totaled 2,293,409 tons valued at PHP91.185 billion, preliminary data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority on Thursday showed.

Air-borne commodities traded nationwide reached 1,152 tons, worth P7.34 million.

In 2019, domestic trading covered 5,969,318 tons of water-transported commodities and 9,532 tons of air-borne commodities, totaling P227.961 billion and P380.922 million, respectively.

The PSA data also showed that total domestic trading nationwide in the third quarter covered 2,294,561 tons of water- and air-transported commodities valued at P91.192 billion.

The quantity and value are lower than the 5,978,850 tons of total domestically traded commodities in 2019, worth P228.34 billion.

Among the domestically traded commodities in 2019 and 2020 were food and live animals, beverages and tobacco, machinery and transport equipment, as well as mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials.*PNA
