The Philippine National Volleyball Federation is gearing up for the national team bubble training in Laoag City starting Thursday.
And this early, PNVF president Tats Suzara is thankful to the city government of Laoag for being gracious in hosting the national volleyball teams in both the indoor and beach levels.
He said the entire training bubble will happen in Laoag without any stopover.
Suzara also denied that a training camp was put up in Baguio amid reports over the weekend that some women’s team players tested positive for Covid-19 there.
“Maybe, certain reports that volleyball players are in Baguio City weren’t confirmed at all,” he said.
Suzara also said the national volleyball training will push through regardless of what happens in the Southeast Asian Games this year in Hanoi amid speculations of postponement due to rising Covid-19 cases there.
The indoor teams will participate in the Asian championships starting from late August until mid-September in separate cities.
The women’s team will host the Asian Seniors Women’s Volleyball Championships in the cities of Angeles and San Fernando in Pampanga, and the Subic Bay area in Zambales.
The men’s team, on the other hand, will fly to Chiba, Japan for the men’s championships.
Suzara said he is expecting 10 teams at least to join both continental events.
“The PNVF mindset is for the athletes—including beach volleyball—to focus on these international events,” he added.*PNA
