Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca (center) receives the Tech4Ed center and equipment packages from DICT project officer Cresile Lozano at the Victorias City Public Library, in the presence of councilors Derek Palanca and Jun Bantug, and Benjie Villa from the Office of Rep. Benitez*

The City of Victorias in Negros Occidental got two more Tech4Ed (Technology Empowerment for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurs and Economic Development) centers, from the Department of Information and Communications Technology, facilitated by Rep. Francisco Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District).

Tech4Ed is one of the DICT flagship programs implemented nationwide and designed to establish community e-centers to provide e-government and ICT-enabled services for those with minimal or no access to information and government services.

The facilities set-up in the Tech4Ed centers are open for free use of out-of-school-youth, farmers, women, students, teachers, and entrepreneurs with no internet access, overseas Filipino workers, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and indigenous people.

The DICT, represented by project officer Cresile Lozano, turned over to Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca the two Tech4Ed centers and equipment packages for use by the City Library on Thursday.

The turnover was witnessed by councilors Jun Bantug and Derek Palanca, Barangay 5 chairman Warlito Undar, and Benjie Villa, who represented the congressional office of Benitez.

One of the techno hubs will be hosted by the Victorias City Library, while the other one will be housed in the multi-purpose building of Brgy. 5, all in Victorias City.

The first Tech4Ed was built in Brgy. 20, Victorias City, in 2018. It was facilitated by then Rep. Alfredo Benitez, followed by the construction and completion of two others recently, through the help of incumbent Rep. Benitez.*GPB
