A man tagged by the police as one of the top 4 drug personalities of Victorias City in Negros Occidental was shot dead outside the people’s hall of Brgy. Estefania in Bacolod City Wednesday night.
The link of Danilo Sangcap Jr. to the illegal drug trade is one of the possible reasons why he was killed, P/Major Jun Ray Batadlan, Station 4 chief, said yesterday.
Investigation conducted by P/Master Sgt. Gegger Sebuan showed that Sangcap of Brgy. Poblacion, Victorias City, had parked his Suzuki Thunder 125 motorcycle at about 10:30 p.m. when a black sports utility vehicle stopped in front of him.
Four men alighted from the SUV and shot Sangcap without provocation, causing his immediate death, Sebuan said.
A video that ran for more than six minutes captured by a closed-circuit television camera showed several bystanders scampering away during the shooting.
The video also showed the suspects escaping towards the east direction of Brgy. Estefania on board what appeared to be a black Toyota Montero without a plate number.
Batadlan said they are still investigating why Sangcap was in the area and the identities of his killers. Sangcap was the third person to be killed in Bacolod City in the first 10 days of this month.*
