The acceptance rate among Bacolod residents towards the coronavirus 2019 vaccines has reached 58 percent, City Emergency Operations Center Executive Director Em Ang said.

Ang earlier said that the extensive educational campaigns through the mainstream and social media is among the driving factors in the increase of  the vaccine acceptability rate of the residents.

Currently, registration for the vaccine roll-out is ongoing on line and in various barangays, whose health workers are conducting house-to-house surveys.

As of Tuesday, 4,640 medical front liners and hospital staff members have been inoculated in Bacolod after  the start of the vaccination roll-out, records from the EOC showed.

Ang  said more medical front liners and hospital staff member will be inoculated,  especially that because additional AstraZeneca vaccines will be delivered in Bacolod next week, although she has no idea  as to how many doses there will be.

Earlier some vaccines that had been distributed to the provinces were recalled and brought back to the National Capital Region where Covid cases are high.

But none of the vaccines  that have been distributed in Bacolod have been recalled so far, because Ang said these were already utilized while others were already distributed to different hospitals in the city.

She said the 650,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines that the city government procured, using a portion of the P300 million allotted for the vaccination roll-out program is expected to arrive in August.*
