BY ADRIAN P. NEMES III

Jealousy allegedly triggered a utility worker of a public school to kill his live-in partner and then stabbing himself at their residence in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City at about 12:45 a.m. yesterday.

Station 4 chief, P/Major Jun Ray Batadlan, identified the victim as Mary Ann Tamonan of Purok Hervias II, who died on the spot from at least two stab wounds in the back, while the suspect, Lindon Dinawanaw, 37, was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

Batadlan said that Tamonan and Dinawidaw were both under the influence of liquor, and figured in an argument. He said Tamonan came from the house of her sibling before the incident happened.

Batadlan added that in October last year, Tamonan and her 12-year-old daughter lodged a complaint for acts of lasciviousness against Dinawidaw.

Witness Helbert Narvasa told the police that he heard Tamonan begging with the suspect and when he peeked from the door, he saw Dinawidaw stabbing her twice on the back.

Another witness, Sandy Managuit, said he went to the couple’s house after he heard the commotion and saw Tamonan bloodied on the pavement while Dinawidaw took a knife, knelt, and closed the door. Two knives, measuring 8 inches and 13 inches, were recovered at the crime scene. Tamonan’s remains were brought to the ABE Funeral Homes.*
