Trips between Bacolod City and Iloilo province are temporarily suspended due to the rising cases of COVID-19.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said last night that Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. announced that he is closing the border of Iloilo province to passengers coming from Bacolod City to Dumangas town through Roll-on, Roll-off vessels.

“We understand that. As a form of reciprocation, the border of Bacolod will also be closed to passengers coming from Dumangas, Iloilo,” the mayor said.

He added, “this is practical, this is realistic. There is no sense of having one-way traffic between Bacolod and Dumangas and vice versa.”

This is also in consideration of the suspended trips between Bacolod and Iloilo City, as earlier announced by Mayor Jerry Treñas, Leonardia said.

“I’m sure our public will understand this reciprocation,” the Bacolod mayor said.*
