Several sections of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City were locked down starting yesterday after eight members of its staff and several patients tested positive for Covid-19.
Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said those locked down for seven days are the hospital’s operating and delivery rooms.
The pediatrics and internal medicine sections and the dialysis section will also be locked down for four days but emergency services will continue, he added.
Diaz said seven of the hospital’s obstetricians have been compromised because four of their OB patients have tested positive for Covid-19.
A surgical and two internal medicine patients also tested positive, he said.
Among the staff, those who have tested positive for Covid-19 are a doctor, nurse supervisor, anesthesiologist, two dialysis nurses, a medical technician, a utility worker, and a nursing attendant, Diaz said.
He also said there are many Covid-19 asymptomatic patients, who have also been reported from Talisay and Silay cities.
Meanwhile, there were 64 new Covid-19 cases in Negros Occidental and one death, and 50 in Bacolod City, the Department of Health reported yesterday.*
