A man was shot dead yesterday in Barangay 2, Bacolod City, the third in a span of three weeks in the barangay that involved motorcycle-riding gunmen.

Felix Olvidado, 23, of Purok Lampirong, was killed in Purok Balinday, also of the barangay, at about 2:45 p.m. yesterday, the police said.

Investigation showed the gunman shot Olvidado two times with an unknown caliber of firearm and escaped.

Olvidado sustained gunshot wounds in the body and was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician, the police said.

The police are still conducting further investigation to determine the motive for the shooting and the identities of the assailants.

Olvidado was nabbed January last year for allegedly selling suspected shabu during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 2, earlier news reports showed.

He had also previously sought the help of the Commission on Human Rights and claimed that police officers of Station 2 mauled him and his companion in the police station, after they were arrested for stealing two fighting cocks in 2015, the reports added.

Last month, a drug surrenderer was shot dead in Purok Sigay, while a driver died after he was shot in the head, also in the barangay.

Barangay 2 is considered by law enforcement authorities as seriously drug affected following several anti-drugs operations conducted in the area, that yielded numerous arrests and illegal drugs.*
