The Bacolod Animal Welfare Task Force will look into incidents of “mass dog poisoning” in Brgy. Granada, executive assistant Ernie Pineda said yesterday.
Pineda, who is also the head of the city’s Sectoral Concern, said the incident already reached his attention and they might call for a virtual meeting to discuss the matter.
A Facebook post of the Community Animal Rescue Efforts Inc. showed that the dog poisoning incidents happened at Providence Village in Brgy. Granada Monday.
Care is calling on the city government and the barangay officials to probe the incidents.
They said they are willing to give rewards to anyone who can provide information on those behind the poisoning of the animals. Under Section 9 of Republic Act 10631, or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, a person inflicting harm to animals may be imprisoned for six months to a year and may be fined from P50,000 to P100,000.*
