Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya has requested the secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development for additional assistance for Bacolod City which has been placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from September 8 to 30.
Gasataya relayed his request to DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista during a recent budget briefing conducted by the House Committee on Appropriations where he sits as vice chairman.
He said the government has allocated P165 billion for the campaign against Covid-19 under the newly approved Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, or Bayanihan 2.
Gasataya said Bautista has committed that the DSWD will continue to extend assistance to Bacolod City although he does not know yet what form of assistance it will be giving.
He will be grateful for whatever assistance the DSWD extends to Bacolod since the MECQ has affected so many sectors in the community, he added.
Gasataya also sought assistance for Bacolod from other national agencies, like the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Department of Labor and Employment, which he had followed up during the budget briefing.
About P140 billion out of the P165 billion signed by President Rodrigo Duterte for Bayanihan 2 has been allocated to the different national agencies, he added.*
