Sipalay City Mayor Maria Gina Lizares joined other selected local government units in the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, during its virtual Global Biz: “Thinking Global, Acting Local” event yesterday.

The City of Sipalay took part as one of the few identified LGUs to develop economic zones with the help of PEZA, a press release from the city said.

The city government, headed by Lizares, is more than ready to pursue sustainable gains for the city and the Sipalaynons as she emphasized her administration’s drive to balance economic development and the commitment to environmental conservation, the press release said.

The Global Biz event was in line with accelerating rural progress through Presidential Administrative Order No. 18 on the creation of specific economic zones in countryside.

Highlights of the whole-day event were the ceremonial signing of MoU and the audio video presentations of selected LGUs about their economic zones.

Lizares was joined by the executive team members, namely, City Tourism Officer Jerick Lacson, who serves as Local Economic Investment and Promotions officer, executive assistant for Tourism and Education Praem Mediodia, Community Affairs officer and LCE chief of staff Katherine Maguad, information officer James Efren Lim, and CMO personnel, the press release added.*
