Senior citizen, 3 others yield P137K in ‘shabu’

A senior citizen and three others were nabbed in drug buy-bust operations in Negros Occidental on Monday, that yielded about P137,000 worth of suspected shabu and its paraphernalia, the police said.

Operatives of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Arielle Discutido in Purok Cagaycay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod City.

But her companion, identified as Romulo Hamantoc, alias Molly, who is categorized as a high value individual drug personality, was able to escape, Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, spokesperson of the Bacolod City Police Office, said.

The arrest of Discutido yielded eight sachets of suspected shabu, worth P123,500, and P2,000 in marked money, the police said.

The apprehension of Leo Soliguen, 62, in Brgy. Miranda, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, also yielded six sachets of suspected shabu, P500 in marked money, a Nokia cellular phone, and P120 in cash, the police said.

An estimated P10,200 worth of suspected shabu and P400 in buy-bust money were recovered by the police in another buy-bust operation, also on Monday, in Brgy. 5, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The operation led to the arrest of a drug suspect, identified by the police as Joemarie Layam, 26. Jonie Mercado, 46, of Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City, was apprehended in Brgy. Calumangan, Bago City, in possession of P3,400 worth of suspected shabu, P500 in marked money, P547 in cash, a cellular phone, and a black Honda motorcycle, the police said.*
