A security guard was disarmed of his shotgun after he was shot dead by a still unidentified gunman in Victorias City, while two other persons were injured in a shooting incident in Cauayan, all in Negros Occidental, on Saturday.
Francis Legada, 23, was rendering duty alone in the guard post of the Victorias Milling Company in Hacienda Florencia, Brgy. 18-A in the City, when he was shot by an unidentified suspect.
Legada sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival at the Ikaayong Foundation Hospital, where he was brought by his companions for treatment, the Victorias City Police Station said.
The 12-gauge shotgun with eight ammunition issued to the victim and his cellular phone were reported missing, the police said, adding that they recovered two spent shells of a .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
Meanwhile, Esmael Mahinay and John Mark Bañas were brought to a hospital for treatment of their injuries after both were shot allegedly by Rian Dequito in Purok 4, Brgy. Talacdan, Cauayan.
Dequito, who was armed with a handgun, shot Bañas in the right side of his neck, while Mahinay, who tried to pacify them, was shot in the abdomen, police said.
The shooting incident ensued after Dequito, accompanied by Allen Bañas, went to the house of the victims, where a confrontation and heated arguments took place, the Cauayan police said.
The two suspects fled after the shooting incident while the two victims are now being treated at the Kabankalan District Hospital.*
