SEC Bacolod registers 158 firms

Mayor Evelio Leonardia received from Securities and Exchange Commission-Bacolod Extension Office director, Annabelle Corral-Respall, the award of the city in recognition of its assistance in the capital market*

The Securities and Exchange Commission-Bacolod Extension Office has registered 158 corporations and assisted over 11, 652 inquiries through walk-ins, phone calls, and emails, its director, lawyer Annabelle Corral-Respall, said.

Respall and administrative assistant Youichi Aoto called on Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the Bacolod City Government Center recently, to present him the award of Bacolod from SEC, in recognition of the city’s assistance in the capital market, a press release from the city said Saturday.

The award was given during the 84th founding anniversary and recognition ceremony of SEC in November.

Respall also briefed Leonardia on the updates and programs of the agency.

The SEC Bacolod Extension Office, located at Units 10 and 11 of Redkey Building, along Hernaez Street, corner Jocson Street, in Barangay Taculing, opened on November 26, 2018.

The SEC Bacolod Extension Office was created by a law authored by Leonardia, when he was congressman of the lone district in 2016.

It is the only SEC office in the country created by legislation.

Leonardia proposed a bill that was passed into law as Republic Act 10785, or the SEC Bacolod Office Law, in May 2016.

The SEC has jurisdiction and supervision over all corporations, partnerships, or associations that are grantees of primary franchises and/or a license or permit issued by the government, the press release added.*
