A satellite registration for youth voters was held by the Commission on Elections – Bacolod and the Bacolod Youth Coalition for Democracy (BaCoD) at St. Joseph School La Salle in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City yesterday.

“We aimed to register 300 youth from Brgy. Villamonte and from neighboring barangays Estefania, 8, 7, and 17,” Genrick Catalonia, BaCoD satellite registration onsite director, said in a press release.

Catalonia said the 300 youth were already identified by the Sangguniang Kabataan and have undergone pre-registration to ensure a “smooth and swift” registration process.

The satellite registration in Villamonte was the first of the three special list-up events agreed upon by BaCoD and Comelec.

“The next ones will be in barangays Mansilingan and Felisa, but BaCoD and Comelec have not set the final dates yet,” he added. “The conduct of satellite registrations in key barangays in Bacolod is a realization of one of our goals in BaCoD to activate the youth of Bacolod for the upcoming national elections.”

BaCoD is an open non-partisan coalition, composed of 15 youth organizations, SK Federation of Bacolod, and individual volunteers, that aims to increase civic engagement of the youth of Bacolod.

The coalition aims to conduct a voter registration campaign, intensive voters’ education, and craft a Unified Youth Agenda, the press release added.*
