The wearing of face shields, aside from face masks, will be mandatory in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, starting August 15.

This was after Mayor Renato Gustilo issued an executive order for the mandatory wearing of face shields and face masks, at all times, while in public places in San Carlos City to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Department of Transportation recently issued a memorandum circular that requires passengers of public transportations to wear face shields and masks, starting August 15.

Gustilo said that executive order he issued mandates all barangay captains and their authorized deputies, Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies in San Carlos City to enforce his directives.

The wearing of facial shields and masks in public transportation units in San Carlos City will take effect Aug. 15, and for all persons, both residents and non-residents, on August 17, he added.

Gustilo also issued an executive order prohibiting leisure riders, both residents and non-residents of San Carlos City, from entering or passing established health checkpoints.

As of Aug. 10, San Carlos had 30 COVID-19 confirmed cases, of which one already died and 19 recovered.*
