The San Carlos City government, through Mayor Renato Gustilo, turned over three checks, worth P60,000 each, to registered associations, at the City Mayor’s Office yesterday.
The three groups that received the assistance facilitated by the Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Office (CLDO) were the Maglunod Health Workers Association of Barangay Quezon, Paglaum Small Vendors Association of Brgy. V, and the Tapon Fisherfolk Association of Brgy. Guadalupe, a press release from the city said.
Grace Nequinto, cooperatives development specialist II of the CLDO, said the groups composed of former members of the Bayanihan Savings Replication Program of the CLDO, will use the money as additional capital for their rice retail businesses in their areas.
Nequinto added that the loans will be paid within a year with a six percent diminishing interest, the press release said.
Gustilo advised the groups to make sure that the borrowed money will have a positive impact on their respective business activities so that they can still re-loan later.
Flordeliza Gonzales, president of the Maglunod Health Workers Association, thanked the city government for the assistance, the press release added.*
