A man, posing as a woman on social media, was arrested by the police for robbing his socmed friends during an entrapment operation at Crossing Gaston in Brgy. Punta Mesa, Manapla, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
P/Lt. Abegael Donasco, deputy spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, identified the suspect as Alvin Amandog, 27, a sugarcane worker, and a resident of Hacienda Bayabas in Brgy. Tortosa, Manapla.
Donasco said Amandog posed as a woman on social media, and used fake identities. Part of his modus operandi was to lure his victims to meet him, and then rob them at gunpoint.
Several victims reported the incident to the Manapla Police Station, and P/Maj. Joevito Bose led the entrapment operation against the suspect, through their help, Donasco said.
Amandog yielded two sachets of suspected shabu, two live ammunition and a spent shell of a .38 caliber revolver, a cellular phone, and a sling bag of his victim, the police said.
P/Col. Romy Palgue, NOCPPO police director, warned netizens to be cautious in meeting with persons they just know online.*
