Quarantine facilities critical: Diaz

The Covid-19 quarantine facilities in Negros Occidental are now in critical stages as the number of active cases keeps increasing, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday.

Diaz said that patients at the EB Magalona healing center are now beyond its capacity.

He also confirmed that the number of Covid-19 occupants at the Mambukal Mountain Resort in Murcia is also increasing.

Diaz also reported that the occupancy rate of provincial-government managed hospitals for Covid-19 patients, is 70 percent, as of this time.

As of May 4, Negros Occidental logged 2,405 active cases.

Since the month of May started, Diaz said Negros Occidental has been having an average of more than 200 cases a day. But he said that most of the infected individuals either have mild symptoms, or were asymptomatic.

San Carlos City remained on top among 31 local government units, excluding Bacolod City, with the most number of active cases at 351, La Carlota City – 190, Sipalay City – 148, Silay City – 143, Bago City – 141, Himamaylan City – 126, Victorias City – 122, and Kabankalan City – 112.

Talisay City recorded 42 new infections, as of yesterday, bringing its total to 112 cases.*
