Former Bacolod Councilor Caesar Distrito is requesting for prayers for the recovery of his younger brother, Singcang Barangay Captain Rosinie Distrito, who tested positive for COVID-19 and is in sedated intubation and on a respirator in a hospital.

Distrito is one of the three barangay captains of Bacolod who have been affected by the coronavirus disease.

The Liga ng mga Barangay in Bacolod City led by its president Councilor Lady Gles Gonzales-Pallen yesterday started a prayer brigade for the recovery of Distrito, Mansilingan Barangay Captain Rudolfo Pico and Banago Barangay Captain Ricky Mijares, who were also tested positive for COVID-19.

Pallen said they are also praying for the recovery of Barangay Captain Emelda Banguanga of Brgy. 2, who has undergone swab test Monday after having experienced difficulty of breathing. The result has not yet been released.

Based on his doctor’s medical update the younger Distrito ihas been given Remdesivir and Tocilizumab, both anti viral and anti Covid drugs, for two days now. His oxygen level is still low which they pray will improve, the former councillor said.

“Rosinie is under guarded condition and is being observed round the clock by his team of doctors because both his lungs have pneumonia,” he said.

They are also asking for prayers for Rosinie‘s wife, Rho Anne Jade, who is also in the same hospital, for herd continued recovery, he added.

“God knows how good, hardworking, helpful and loving his brother is. They are confident and believe that God will not allow him to leave his four little girls, including his one-year-old twins,” the former councillor said.

In behalf of their mother, Councilor Simple Distrito, the former councilor also thanked all his brother’s doctors and nurses, who have risked their lives, and for the sacrifices they have rendered, as well as the city officials, barangay officials and workers and the hospitals who have assisted them.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution urging all families in the city to observe and practice together a regular prayer time in their respective homes.

The resolution authored by Councilor Renecito Novero said that Bacolod, along with the rest of the world, is currently faced with an unprecedented emergency situation that challenges faith and infested fear in every soul.

“In crisis moments like this, everyone need to be inspired to seek the aid of the Almighty God,” the resolution said.

Prayers may be best done and offered in the home together with every member, it added.*
