A police trooper assigned at the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, who earlier tested positive for COVID-19, has already recovered, Col. Romy Palgue, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, said yesterday.

Palgue raised the possibility that the police officer got infected by the virus while he was assigned at a hotel being used as a temporary holding area for returning Negrense overseas Filipino workers.

Despite having recovered from the virus infection, Palgue said the police officer was ordered to go on leave as part of their precautionary measures.

The police officer was placed under quarantine at the EB Magalona Healing Center, after he was infected by the virus.

Palgue said that the RT-PCR testing of the colleagues of the PMFC trooper, who is asymptomatic, yielded negative results.

With this development, he reminded NOCPPO personnel to always be vigilant and extra cautious, noting that majority of the COVID- 19 cases in the province are asymptomatic.

As of July 27, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the PNP organization had risen to 2,037 with 10 deaths and 725 recoveries.*
