Police arrest 12 in drug busts

Twelve more drug suspects are now in jail following their apprehensions in a series of buy-bust operations in Bacolod City Friday and Saturday, that also resulted in the confiscation of P99,120 worth of suspected shabu and its assorted paraphernalia.

Police Station 5 personnel nabbed Johnzen Cawaling, alias “Rap-Rap”, 21, in a buy-bust operation in Purok Kawayan, Barangay 28 in Bacolod, at about 6:20 p.m. Friday.

Eight sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 3 grams and worth P38,000, P300 in marked money, a disposable lighter, and P60 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of shabu were recovered from Cawaling, records show.

Meanwhile, 14 sachets of suspected shabu, P200 in marked money, and drug paraphernalia were confiscated from Alfonso Lizares, alias “PJ” 26, in Purok Tulihaw, Barangay 16 in Bacolod, at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The suspected shabu weighed about 2.39 grams with an estimated street value of P19,120, the police said, adding that Lizares is now locked up at the custodial facility of Station 1.

Ryan Peloquero, Alqui Valencia, Jonathan Olido and Joseph Benigay were also arrested by the police in Manapla, Pontevedra, Hinigaran and Calatrava, Negros Occidental, Saturday.

The apprehension of Peloquero in Brgy.Tortosa, Manapla, yielded 2.4 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P13,600 and a P500 marked money, while the police recovered P4,760 worth of illegal drugs and P500 in marked money during the arrest of Valencia in another buy-bust operation in Brgy. Recreo, Pontevedra.

The police also recovered 1.6 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P11,000, P500 in marked money and P500 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs from Olido during his arrest in Brgy. 4, Hinigaran, while the arrest of Benigay in Brgy. San Isidro, Calatrava, yielded three sachets of suspected shabu and P500 buy-bust money.

One gram of suspected shabu,with a market value of P6,800, and P500 in marked money were also recovered by the police from arrested drug suspect Ray Ann Agoyong Friday in Brgy. 9, Kabankalan City.

The arrest of another drug suspect, identified as Alfredo Sardido, by the police in Brgy. Poblacion, Toboso on Oct. 9, also yielded five sachets of suspected shabu, a Suzuki motorcycle and P500 in marked money.

Three other drug suspects identified as Jerry Torena, Rosetiza Natial and Princess Naomei were also apprehended by the police during a buy-bust operation in Brgy. 20, Victorias City, that also yielded P4,300 worth of suspected shabu, P400 in marked money and three cellular phones, as well as assorted drugs paraphernalia.

Also nabbed for a similar violation in Brgy.Mambugsay, Cauayan, was Dexter Lachica,whose arrest yielded a sachet of suspected shabu and its paraphernalia.

Meanwhile, the police seized two firearms, including a .45 caliber 45 Colt pistol and a 9mm Jericho pistol, during the implementation of a search warrant issued by Judge Cyclamen Fernandez, in Brgy. 3, Isabela, Oct. 9.

The police operation conducted by troopers of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Isabela police also led to the arrest of Jeffrey Margaja, and the recovery of four magazines of 9mm and .45 caliber pistols, 58 ammunitions and a .45 caliber pistol barrel, a sling bag and a gun holster, police said.*
