A man believed to be a victim of salvage, and whose body was discovered April 26 at the national highway of Hacienda Silos in Brgy. Talaban, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, has been identified by his wife, Lt. Col. Romeo Vargas, city police chief, said.
The victim, Jundel Diaz, 39, a construction worker and a resident of Brgy. Zone 15, Talisay City, was positively identified by his wife, Lizelle, Vargas said.
Vargas said that the almost naked body of the victim, who appeared to have been strangled, was placed in a sack, with both hands tied with packing tape, and his face also covered with packing tape.
However, no injuries were observed on the body, he added.
Vargas said the wife told them that Diaz used to be a drug user, and surrendered to the Talisay City Police Station in 2016, during the Oplan Tokhang campaign.
Investigations by the Himamaylan City police showed that the victim was last seen by his wife driving a motorcycle in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City a day before he was found dead in Himamaylan City.
Vargas said he believes that the crime was committed somewhere, and the victim was only dumped in Himamaylan City.*
