A man, armed with a bolo, went on a hacking and stabbing spree Tuesday night in Sitio Buyog, Brgy. Nabulao, Sipalay City in Negros Occidental, and killed two of his neighbors, without any provocation.

The suspect, identified by the police as Douglas Gaboya, 55, fled immediately after killing Percy Lugay and Robert Gabonada.

Lugay, 36, and Gabonada, 34, were declared dead on arrival at the Eleuterio Decena Hospital in Hinobaan, the police said.

Rudy Gabonada, 64, sustained hack wounds and is now being treated in a hospital in Bacolod City.

Initial police investigations showed that Gaboya entered the house of Mary Ann Labanes, where, without any provocation, he attacked and hacked Lugay, who was watching a television program.

Gaboya proceeded to the house of Rudy Gabonada, hacked him with a bolo, and stabbed Robert Gabonada in the chest, the police said.

The motive for the hacking and stabbing incidents is still being established by the Sipalay City police.

Meanwhile, a senior citizen, identified as Artemio Talavero, surrendered to the police, after he hacked Wediman Saligan in Purok Katalbas, Brgy Bonifacio, Sagay City, also on Tuesday.

The hacking incident ensued after Talavero, 66, and Saligan, 58, figured in heated arguments.

Saligan is now being treated at the Escalante District Hospital, the police added.*
