A virtual validation of barangays in Himamaylan, Negros Occidental, that want to be declared drug-cleared was conducted Thursday by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the province, that hosted the virtual conference with officials of the city.

Barangays Cabadiangan and San Antonio of Himamaylan have applied for drug clearing status, and the documents submitted by barangay officials went through detailed and careful scrutiny by members of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program team, the PDEA said.

Barangay San Antonio captain Elbert Miguel and Brgy. Cabadiangan captain Martin Florencio Villafranca also answered clarificatory questions from the BDCP team.

So far, 21 drug surrenderers from Cabadiangan and San Antonio are now undergoing the Community Based Rehabilitation Program and are set to graduate this month, the PDEA-6 said.

Himamaylan Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson Jr., Jose Simeon Sindingan, Gary Camaso of the local government of Himamaylan, Medardo Estandia and Raymond Gerard Rallos of the City Health Office, and Himamaylan police chief, Maj. Romeo Vargas, also participated in the virtual validation.*
