More than 4,000 households will benefit from the construction of a 120 lineal-meter Himoga-an Bridge in Barangay Bato, Sagay City in Negros Occidental.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for the project that will be funded by the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project.

It is expected to improve the economic activities and bring further development in neighboring barangays.

The project that is estimated to cost P76 million is expected to be completed after a year. The Sagay City government has a counterpart of P20 million.

The construction of the bridge is facilitated by the Provincial Engineer’s Office with the DA-PRDP and World Bank as implementing partners.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva (Neg. Occ., 2nd District), Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III, Vice Mayor Narciso Javelosa Jr., DA Region 6 director Remelyn Recoter, and Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa, among others.*
