BY ADRIAN P. NEMES III

About P700,000 worth of shabu was seized by the Bacolod City Police Office in a series of operations last month, BCPO director, P/Col. Manuel Placido, said yesterday.

Placido said they confiscated 96.396 grams of shabu from 50 police operations, and arrested 62 street level drug personalities.

He said they were able to file 94 cases for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, against the drug personalities.

In the campaign against wanted persons, they conducted 49 operations and arrested five of the most wanted personalities, Placido added.

The BCPO was also able to confiscate five loose firearms and arrested several suspects for violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Twenty-eight firearms were deposited or surrendered to the BCPO as part of the PNP “Oplan Katok” during the annual verification of firearms, Placido said.

In the campaign against all forms of illegal gambling, the BCPO conducted 14 operations that led to the arrest of 40 persons and seizure of P2,128 in bet money, and filed 10 cases in court.

He commended the operating units and personnel for a job well done. Placido also reminded them to be always motivated to make Bacolod City safe and peaceful and be on alert against Covid-19 by strictly implementing and observing minimum health protocols for their safety and protection.*
