P64M drugs seized in WV

More than P64 million worth of illegal drugs was seized by the police from 1,377 drug personalities in Western Visayas, with the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and the Bacolod City Police Office as top performers in the anti-illegal drugs campaign among key police units in the region.

P/Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 6, said yesterday that NOCPPO has the largest contribution in anti-illegal drugs operations for the period from January to August this year.

NOCPPO accomplished 436 operations that resulted in the arrest of 607 drug suspects, with BCPO trailing behind with 382 arrested drug personalities from 244 conducted operations.

Malong also reported the killing of five drug suspects in police operations all over Western Visayas.

In the same period, 7.1 kilos of suspected shabu, with a market value of P64.1 million and its assorted paraphernalia, and 456. 29 grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves were recovered by various police units in the region, she added.

Malong also said that PRO6 is running after the remaining 711 drug personalities in Western Visayas, based on the report of the Regional Intelligence Division of PRO 6.

Meanwhile, drug suspects Mark Anthony Monaya, Benjo Montero, Arvin Delods, and Cristopher Arturo, all classified by the police as street level targets, were arrested yesterday in Brgy. Mambulac, Silay City, and yielded two grams of suspected shabu, worth P13,600.*
