P2.7M in shabu seized in buy-bust operations

The shabu, worth P2.6 million, seized from a maritime student in Bacolod City on Saturday*

The police seized more than P2.7 million worth of suspected shabu from several drug suspects arrested in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental on Friday and Saturday.

Combined operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation-Bacolod District Office, the Regional Special Operations Group 6, Special Operating Unit, PNP Drug Enforcement Group, and the Bacolod City Police Office Station 2, seized P2.6 million worth of suspected shabu in an operation in Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod City on Saturday.

Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office 6, said the buy-bust operation led to the confiscation of 396 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P2.6 million, and the arrest of Dan Aldrick Ballesteros, 19.

Also recovered from his possession were P1,000 in marked money and a weighing scale.

Ballesteros, who is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is now in the custody of the NBI.

SURVEILLANCE RESULT

An NBI operative said they had conducted surveillance on the teenager for weeks, following reports that illegal drugs are being delivered to his house. Ballesteros’ father said he had no idea about his son’s activities.

P/Lt. Liberty Indiape, BCPO spokesperson, also reported the arrest of four drug suspects in Brgys. 34 and Alijis, Bacolod City, and the confiscation of 17. 5 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P119,000, on Friday.

Station 4 policemen, led by P/Maj. Jun Ray Batadlan, arrested Garyn Jimena, alias “Gurami”, 41, of Purok Sabes Zone 1 in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod, after the latter tried to sell illegal drugs to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P500, near his residence.

Batadlan and his men recovered nine elongated heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and four big heat-sealed transparent sachets of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 12 grams, and valued at P81,600.

BARANGAY ALIJIS, TOO

Romulo Dipon, “alias Jun-Jun”, 32, of Purok Million Flower in Brgy. 34, was arrested by Station 7 operatives, led by P/Capt. Elmer Bonilla for selling illegal drugs to a police poseur buyer, in Purok Mainabyanon, Brgy. Alijis at about 9:20 p.m. on Friday.

Bonilla said they recovered nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, with an estimated weight of 17.5 grams and market value of P119,000, from Dipon, whom they consider as a street level individual.

Meanwhile, nabbed during a buy-bust operation on April 17 in Sitio Ilahud, Brgy To-oy, Himamaylan City, was Jensen Divinagracia, of Brgy. Hilamonan, Kabankalan City.

Lt. Col. Romeo Vargas, Himamaylan City police chief, said in his report to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, that Divinagracia yielded two grams of suspected shabu, worth P13,600, and P500 in marked money.

Three other drug suspects, identified as Daniel Agot, Joebert Dosa, and Jennifer Boloron are in jails, following their arrest in Victorias City, Manapla, and La Castellana, all in Negros Occidental, on April 16. Their apprehension yielded 10 sachets of suspected shabu, P700 in marked money, three cellular phones, and P1,000 in cash, police said.*
