About P2.6 million worth of suspected shabu was seized in Western Visayas from August 1 to 7 with policemen in Negros Occidental confiscating about P88,400 worth in the cities of Cadiz and Silay on Monday.

Nabbed during a buy-bust operation at Villa Miramar 2 in Brgy.Daga, Cadiz City, were Genser Embile, Grace dela Rosa, Mark Villanueva and Reymar Quiatchon, all residents of the barangay and listed as drug personalities, Lt. Col. Robert Mansueto, Cadiz City police chief, said yesterday.

In his report to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, Mansueto said the arrest of the drug suspects yielded an estimated four grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P27,200, an improvised tooter with traces of alleged shabu and P3,000 in marked money.

A similar buy-bust operation on the same day at Antonio Luna Street in Brgy. 1, Silay City, led to the apprehension of three drug suspects identified by the police as Stephen Gamboa, Roy Flores and Ronald Labrador.

The arrest of the three suspects yielded nine grams of suspected shabu worth P61,200, and its paraphernalia, P4,000 in marked money and P180 in cash.

All the seven arrested suspects are now in jail.

All over Western Visayas, the police seized P2.6 million worth of suspected shabu from 42 arrested drug suspects, from Aug. 1 to 7, Col. Gilbert Gorero, spokesman of the Police Regional Office 6, said in a statement.

Gorero also reported that 17 of the Most Wanted Persons in Region 6 were accounted for, aside from the 145 arrested fugitives, in the same period, that he attributed to the implementation of the Enhanced Managing Police Operation (EMPO).

BY Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police regional director, lauded the accomplishments of police operatives and vowed to continuously intensify their campaign against illegal drugs amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.*
