More than half a million peso worth of suspected shabu was seized by operatives of the Bacolod Police and the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 from the three men they arrested in barangays Singcang-Airport, Taculing, and Estefania in the city Monday and yesterday.

P/Lt. Liberty Indiape, Bacolod City Police Office spokesperson, said operatives from Station 8 and RDEU-6 arrested construction worker Samuel Talaman, “alias Jun-Jun”, 32, of Purok 5, Magsungay past 4 p.m. during a buy-bust operation at Henrietta Village in Brgy. Singcang.

Indiape said Talaman, who is considered a street level individual, was arrested after he sold a heat-sealed transparent sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange for P15,000.

MORE DRUGS SEIZED

Talaman also yielded an additional five heat-sealed transparent sachets of suspected shabu, with an estimated weight of 30 grams and valued at P204,000, a gun replica, and a cellular phone, among others, the police added.

Station 8 chief, P/Major Joery Puerto, said Talaman had been under surveillance for months following reports that he is into the illegal drug trade.

Five hours later, RDEU-6 operatives and Station 6 policemen, led by P/Lt. Glenn Soliman and P/Major Leo Estopa, respectively, arrested in a buy-bust operation Jim Jim Estacio, “alias Jun-Jun”, 30, of San Dionesio Subdivision in Brgy Granada, and his companion, Nico Calates, 33, of Meldrid Homes in Brgy. Alijis, 1st Road Puentebella Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod.

They were apprehended after they tried to sell a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer for P20,000, Indiape said, adding that eight more sachets containing the banned substance, weighing about 45 grams and valued at P306,000, were also seized from them after their arrest.

The arrest was witnessed by Barangay Taculing kagawads Johnny Esmil and Josephine Tamayo, Sangguniang Kabataan chairman Klyza Maybelle Berlos, and members of the media.

Meanwhile, Carlo Alojado, 23, of Purok Pedring, Brgy. Estefania, was arrested past 2 p.m. yesterday near his house after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer.

Seven additional sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 2 grams and valued at P15,000, were seized from him after his arrest.*
