BY ADRIAN P. NEMES III

The body of an Oman national with a gunshot wound in the chest was found in a grassy area near the Bredco port in Bacolod City past 7 a.m. yesterday.

A resident, whose name was withheld by the police, said he was scavenging when he saw the bloodied body of Ahmed Haj lying on his side.

Haj, 34, of Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision in Brgy. Alijis was clad in gray shorts and a black shirt and wearing slippers when he was found, P/SSgt James Celeste, case investigator, said.

Celeste said Haj sustained a lone gunshot wound in the chest, adding that, they already have leads on the identities of the suspects but he could not give details in order not to hamper the ongoing investigation.

He said the police cannot establish yet if the motive for the killing was robbery.

The police believe that Haj was killed somewhere and his body dumped in the area where he was found, because residents living nearby did not hear any commotion before the discovery of the body.

Joseph Ballesteros, the brother of Haj’s former live-in partner, said the last time he saw him alive was Monday night, on board his vehicle.

Ballesteros described Haj as a nice person with no known enemies, and he did not get any death threats.

Several evidences were already submitted by Station 2 policemen to the Crime Laboratory yesterday to help them in their investigation.

2 MORE BODIES FOUND

A laborer was found dead Sunday morning in Himamaylan City, a day after he went out with two unidentified men.

The police identified the victim as Gody Lozano, 30, of Brgy. Mahalang in Himamaylan City, who succumbed to gunshot wounds believed to have been inflicted with an M16 rifle.

Archie Aguirre, 31, of Crossing Cambahug in Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental, was also found dead in a sugarcane plantation in Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia town, at about 9 a.m. yesterday.

P/Capt. Jerald Muya, Murcia town police chief, said Aguirre had gunshot wounds in the head and body. He was found lying face down and around eight empty shells of .22 caliber pistol were found at the crime scene, the police said.*
