A father of six children in Sitio Lupong, Brgy. Dahile, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, got a gift of a new house during the Father’s Day celebration, courtesy of the Army’s 11th Infantry Battalion.

Victorino Beronio, known to his neighbors as Tatay Victorino, managed to save his six children, despite injuries incurred after their house was razed by fire on May 26, 1Lt. Andrew Bon Apayart, Bravo Company commanding officer of the 1IIB, said.

In recognition of his heroic efforts, the 11IB constructed a new house for the Beronio family, through the help and support of Mabinay Mayor Joeterry Uy, Vice Mayor Ernie Uy, Councilor Godiardo Codera, and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, among others.

FATHER’S DAY GIFT

It took almost a month for the soldiers and Mabinay LGU to complete the construction of the house, that was turned over to the family of Beronio on June 20, in time for Father’s Day.

Apayart said the initiative of the Mabinay LGU, partner stakeholders, and civilian volunteers in helping finish Tatay Victorino’s new home showcases the true essence of the “bayanihan” spirit.*
