The Western Visayas Regional Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 has approved the suspension of the arrival of Locally Stranded Individuals in Negros Occidental this week.

The RIATF approved the suspension of the arrival of LSIs coming to Negros Occidental from October 3 to 9 provided the LSIs bound for Bacolod City are unhampered and may enter through the Bacolod Silay Airport, Resolution No. 43 dated October 2 said.

The RIATF was acting on the request of Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson for a moratorium citing the congestion and non availability of quarantine facilities because of the huge influx of Returning Overseas Filipinos and LSIs.

The governor asked that a seven-day moratorium be granted to decongest, disinfect and prepare quarantine facilities for the new batch of incoming ROFs and LSIs.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City had 16 new COVID-19 cases and Negros Occidental had 66, the Department of Health in Western Visayas reported yesterday.

Of the 12,490 COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas, Bacolod City has a total of 4,213 followed by Negros Occidental with 3,277, Iloilo City – 2,802, Iloilo province – 1,384, Capiz – 527, Guimaras – 151, Aklan – 122 and Antique – 64, the DOH reported.

Bacolod City also has the most number of COVID-19 deaths in WV at 90, followed by Iloilo City with 62, Negros Occidental – 49, Iloilo – 42, Capiz – 20, Aklan – 7 and Antique – 1, the DOH added.*
