The Negros for Leni, composed of multi-sectoral organizations in Negros Occidental, urged Vice-President Leni Robredo to run for president in the 2022 elections, as the nation marked the 35th Edsa People Power Revolution yesterday.

“Based on what we believe a president ought to be, and based on a public service track record that is exemplary in its accomplishments, dedication and integrity, we are urging Vice President Robredo to take on the challenge and to run for president in the coming 2022 elections,” Negros for Leni co-convenor Rafael Coscolluela, who spearheaded the launching, said.

“We believe that Vice-President Leni Robredo possesses all the qualities and qualifications required of a President who will not only lead with competence, but will inspire Filipinos in search of hope, enable those in need of empowerment, and restore our faith in a government that nurtures and builds and brings back our pride as Filipinos,” Coscolluela, who served as Negros Occidental governor for nine years and vice governor for three years, said.

“Today, we add our voices to all those in other parts of the country who call on VP Leni Robredo to run for president. We urge everyone to join us as we fight back for a better future for ourselves and our children,” he added.

OPPOSITION GROUP

A united opposition group, called Bunyog-Pagkakaisa, also launched a signature campaign in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, to urge Robredo to run for president.

Bunyog-Bacolod president Thezz Polanco said in a press conference Wednesday that they believe that Robredo is qualified and competent to run for president because of her performance, and because she is not a traditional politician.

The new president, Coscolluela said, should be a healing and unifying president, a stickler for truth, justice and fair play, a charismatic ambassador to the world, a principled politician skilled in the art of negotiation, an empowering, ethical and effective leader, a strategic development manager driven by the right vision and values, a goal-driven taskmaster who can whip all government agencies into efficient service-delivery machines, a caring-nurturing servant leader, an administrator capable of assembling and leading competent government functionaries who will carry out the administration’s programs efficiently and well and a good communicator.
