Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday that Negros Occidental cannot afford to go back to Enhanced Community Quarantine.
“Just to feed our constituents is impossible, no Bayanihan grant part 2 is forthcoming,” Lacson said.
An ECQ will again stop most economic activities, Lacson said.
The province is currently under Modified General Community Quarantine, which has allowed the resumption of business activity.
The Department of Health reported two new COVID-19 positive Locally Stranded Individuals in EB Magalona and Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, yesterday.
Negros Occidental has 416 COVID-19 positive cases, of which 46 are domestic cases and the rest are persons who returned to the province and were quarantined.
Meanwhile, five provincial Capitol employees were swabbed for COVID-19 tests, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday.
Swabbed were two members of the Capitol security services division who came in contact with a Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital doctor, who tested positive for COVID-19, and three other employees who are close contacts of other virus-hit individuals, he added.*
