The number of recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 in Negros Oriental continues to increase as reported by the Provincial Health Office-Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit.
Assistant Provincial Health officer, Dr. Liland Estacion, health committee chair of the province’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), said in a press briefing yesterday that 19 new recoveries were listed in the province.
However, 23 new positive cases were also logged, with six each in Dumaguete City and Bais City, two each in San Jose, Sibulan, Tanjay City, and Zamboanguita, and one each in Guihulngan City, Basay, and Bacong.
The new recoveries are from Bayawan City with eight, La Libertad – 5, Zamboanguita – 3, and Amlan, Bais, and Mabinay with one each.
The total number of Covid cases in Negros Oriental already reached 700, of which 584 have recovered, 97 are active infections, with 19 recorded deaths, Estacion said.
The current hospital occupancy rate for coronavirus patients is as follows: Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital with 80 percent, Silliman University Medical Center 76 percent, Holy Child Hospital 100 percent, and Ace Dumaguete Doctors Hospital 100 percent. Estacion said the newly-opened Negros Polymedic Hospital is still not accepting Covid-19 patients.*PNA
