A motorcycle driver, believed to be under the influence of liquor, died while his back-rider was injured when they figured in an accident at about 12:50 a.m. Saturday in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City.

Killed was Joy Labares, 28, of Sitio Caliban in Isabela town, Negros Occidental, while his cousin, identified as Paul Riwil Villacapa, 24, of Brgy. Camindangan in Sipalay City, was injured, Station 7 chief, P/Capt. Elmer Bonilla, said.

Investigation showed that the two were heading west of Alijis Road on a Rusi motorcycle when they hit the right portion of the truck, driven by Marcel Dalimo-os, 33, of Brgy. Pahanocoy in Bacolod.

P/Master Sgt Clark Canon, traffic investigator, said the truck was supposed to turn left to Bangga Cory when the accident happened.

Canon said both Labares and Villacapa were under the influence of liquor and came from a drinking spree in Murcia before the accident.*
