Policemen arrested on Monday and yesterday four persons for illegal possession of firearms and violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, in the cities of Kabankalan and San Carlos, Negros Occidental.
Nabbed at the Fatima Village in Brgy. Rizal, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Monday were Randy Villasor and Joshua Crisostomo, both jobless and residents of the barangay.
The arrest of the two suspects yielded an improvised shotgun with three live ammunitions and a.38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver with five live ammunition.
The San Carlos City police said the two suspects were caught in the act of carrying guns.
Also arrested at Repullo Street in Brgy. 3, Kabankalan City during a buy-bust operation yesterday were Reynaldo Andonilla and Jean UarhonBumanglag.
The arrest of the two drug suspects yielded P12,000 worth of suspected shabu, P100 in marked money and P2,755 in cash.
Meanwhile, six persons were arrested for illegal gambling Saturday and Monday in Bacolod City.
Station 7 policemen, led by Lt. Florentino Abalayan, nabbed Nholy Linaja, 37, Mark RosalioCorum III, 37, Michael Singhed, 35, and Joselito Domingo, 49, for allegedly playing the card game “pusoy” with bets in PurokAbadaEscay, Barangay Vista Alegre in Bacolod City, at about 2:40 p.m. Saturday.
A set of playing cards and P170 in bet money were recovered during the operation, and Linaja, Corum, Singhed, and Domingo were brought to Station 7, the police said.
Police Station 8 personnel also nabbed Cherven Penaranda and Joshua Jimenez, also for playing a card game with bets involved, in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod, at about 6:40 p.m. Monday.
Confiscated were P135 in bet money and gambling paraphernalia.*
