The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force has approved the suspension of the arrivals of locally stranded individuals for 15 days to Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.
This was in response to the request of the Pontevedra municipal government, asking for a moratorium on the return of LSIs to the town, starting from Dec. 22 to Jan. 5, in order for them to prepare quarantine facilities for arriving LSIs.
Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante, meanwhile, said they have started accepting LSIs from other areas of the country, after the moratorium on their arrival was lifted on Nov. 30.
But Escalante said all returning residents of Cadiz are still subjected to swabbing and quarantine.
If they test negative, he said they will immediately be released from the St. Andrew’s quarantine facility.
While Cadiz is on Modified General Community Quarantine status, Escalante said they still prohibit mass gatherings, including Christmas parties and street caroling, with religious activities to be allowed on 50 percent limited capacity. As of Dec. 7, Cadiz City had 51 active cases, out of 453 confirmed Covid cases, with 380 recoveries, and 17 deaths, its advisory showed.*
