MOA for ram pump project in Calatrava inked

A tripartite memorandum of agreement for a ram pump project was signed among officers of the Punao Small Coconut Farmers Agriculture Cooperative, San Carlos Bioenergy Inc., and the Minapasuk Farmers Association during the latter’s Pasalamat 2021 in Sitio Crossing Kawayan, Brgy. Minapasuk, Calatrava town, Negros Occidental Wednesday.

The MOA was signed by PUSCOFAC chairman Nelson Limot, SCBI assistant vice president Alexander Pino – head for Factory Operations, and MIFA chairman Rogelio Rebucas. They agreed to work together as partners in the development and improvement of water system facilities that will result in increased production and farm outputs for the benefit of the farmers, a press release from the Capitol said.

The signing was witnessed by Mayor Marilyn Era of Calatrava, Provincial Environment Management Office head Danilo Amisola, and MIFA chairperson Rogelio Rebucas and vice chairperson Rene Somuelo, among others.

The MIFA officers and members also thanked government officials and private partners for the support given to them.

They said the improvement of water sources through available technology is vital in improving the quality of life of farming communities, including sugarcane farmers.

The Pasalamat 2021, meanwhile, was graced by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Rep. Gerardo Valmayor Jr. (Neg. Occ., 1st District), Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members Araceli Somosa and Rommel Debulgado, among other officials.

The activity started with a thanksgiving mass, followed by a program and blessing of the farm equipment that include a mini tractor and rice reaper harvesters.

Lacson advised the association to unite and help each other in the attainment of their goals, and to properly manage and maintain the project entrusted to them.

He also told the farmers to support the government’s Covid-19 vaccination program, and reminded everyone to follow health and safety protocols at all times.*
