Mass tests in Silay set

MILESTONE. The staff of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital molecular laboratory in Silay City reached a milestone Wednesday with 50,000 Covid-19 tests processed, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday.*

A mass testing of 366 Silaynons at the Healing Center in Brgy. E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental, is set today, City Administrator Jose Eduard Davila said yesterday.

Davila said Rep. Francisco Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) and the Negros Occidental provincial government will provide the Silay City government with 400 testing kits.

The mass testing came after Mayor Mark Golez and other mayors in the 3rd district, Rep. Benitez and Abang Lingkod Rep. Stephen Paduano held a zoom meeting Tuesday with retired Gen. Mel Feliciano of the Inter-Agency Task Force, in preparation for the operationalization of the Metro 3rd Covid-19 Emergency Operations Center.

Davila said that the 12 swabbers of the Silay City Health Office will be augmented by swabbers from EB Magalona, Victorias City and Provincial Health Office in the conduct of RT-PCR testing.

Of the 366 persons availing of mass testing, 172 are assigned at the DepEd Silay, Healing Center – 60, Brgy. Guinhalaran – 24, Brgy. 5 – 22, Brgy. Mambulac – 19, Brgy. E Lopez – 14, Brgy. Rizal – 12, Brgy. 4 – 10, Brgy. Guimbalaon – 9, Brgys. 2 and Lantad – six each, Brgy. 1 – 5, Brgy. Kapitan Ramon – 4, and three in Brgy. 3.*
