An unidentified suspect shot dead a man in Brgy. Tangub , Bacolod City, Sunday night following a brief altercation, Station 8 commander, P/Major Joerey Puerto, said yesterday.

Puerto said that, based on the video captured by a closed-circuit television camera, Angelo Tamperong, 31, of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, was on his way out from Purok Grasya when the suspect approached him.

He said the suspect and Tamperong argued and the former drew an unidentified firearm, shot the latter, and fled on a motorcycle.

Investigation showed that Tamperong, who was staying in Purok Kaingin, Brgy. Banago, had just visited his child in Purok Grasya when the incident happened.

He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds while being treated at the Bacolod Adventist Hospital, Puerto added.

The police initially eyed love triangle as motive for the killing but Puerto said they have already ruled it out.

SHABU SEIZED

Meanwhile, about P51,000 worth of suspected shabu was seized by operatives of the Bacolod City Police Drug Enforcement Unit in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. 13, at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

P/Major Sherlock Gabana, BCPO spokesperson, said the supposed subject of the buy-bust operation was Pinor Alve, 45, of Purok Boulevard in the barangay on information that he is into the illegal drug trade.

Gabana said Alve, who is considered a street level individual, managed to evade arrest when he sensed that they were dealing with policemen.

His companion, identified as Pablo Untalan Jr., alias Jun-Jun, 47, also of Purok Boulevard, was arrested, Gabana said. Gabana said that DEU operatives seized eight sachets of suspected shabu, weighing about 7.5 grams, P500 in marked money, and a pouch during the operation.*
