Long queues of vehicles at various border check-up points in Bacolod City were noted yesterday as authorities strictly implemented stringent measures following a spike in Covid-19 cases in the city.

P/Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, Bacolod City Police Office public information officer, said there was no major problem encountered aside from the traffic congestion due to long queues of vehicles at the border check-up points in the areas of Sum-ag, Mandalagan, Bata, and Mansilingan.

Most of the drivers and passengers complied with the documents and requirements needed to enter Bacolod, Pico said.

A tricycle driver from Bago City in Negros Occidental, who failed to show pertinent documents, was barred from entering Bacolod.

Pico said the driver was also answering in arrogant manner the frontliners at the Sum-ag border check-up point.

Eight border control areas and 27 inner check-up points are set up in Bacolod.

The Bacolod police is on full alert status until September 19 to implement the Home Quarantine Pass system and border control.

Meanwhile, 38 individuals were caught for violating the curfew in Bacolod from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

They were brought to the holding area in the border control points and issued citation tickets, Pico added.*
