Lawyer Roxenne Sumanting was terminated as an employee of the Negros Occidental Provincial Legal Office after having been found guilty of two counts of falsification of official documents and two counts of dishonesty based on substantial evidence, the decision approved by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson shows.

Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz furnished the DAILY STAR a copy of the decision yesterday to rebut the statement of Sumanting that she was dismissed based on fabricated evidence.

He said he furnished the copy of the decision “to clarify the facts since she is misleading the public.”

Diaz in a show cause order against Sumanting said she incurred unauthorized absences from duty at the PLO during office hours on Oct. 25 and Nov. 8, 2019.

She also failed to report the actual hours of work performed at the PLO by certifying a different time of arrival and departure at the PLO on her Daily Time Record for Oct. 25 and Nov. 8, 2019, he added.

The decision said there was no evidence from Sumanting to justify her unauthorized absences.*
