BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The request of airline companies to resume their flights to Negros Occidental for December this year, for “humanitarian considerations”, has been approved by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday.

Diaz said airline companies, including the Philippine Air Lines, Cebu Pacific and Air Asia, requested to be allowed to have one flight per week.

He said Cebu Pacific will be allowed to fly in for Cebu every Tuesday, Air Asia for Wednesday, and PAL during Friday. There will be one flight per week for every airline company for Bacolod-Cebu-Bacolod, and twice a week per airline company for the Manila-Bacolod-Manila flight.

However, Diaz said that frontliners are requesting that there will be a moratorium of fights on Dec. 24 and 25, for them to rest.

“There will be no flights on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1,” he added.

“Locally stranded individuals can grab the opportunity now to come to Negros Occidental,” Diaz also said.

Lacson also wrote the airline companies to maintain two flights each per week, for December only, with passengers limited to 199 per flight.

Diaz said shipping companies were also requested by Lacson to limit themselves to 150 passengers a day, also for the month of December.

A simple carelessness, or mistake, can again lead to an epidemic way that will affect economically and health-wise our local residents, he added.

Diaz also said that three shipping companies were also requested to send the manifest of their passengers before the voyage so LGUs can have adequate time to pick up their respective residents, he also said.

That is how we continue serving our people, by providing them consistent transportation in and out of Negros Occidental, he added.*GPB
