Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday pointed out that he is not part of any movement either pushing for Vice-President Leni Robredo or presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte- Carpio, to run for president in 2022.
Tarpaulins of Sara Duterte-Carpio urging her to run have been displayed in key areas of Bacolod City, and some areas in Negros Occidental, after the Negros Leni movement was launched by multi-sectoral organizations led by former Negros Occidental Gov. Rafael Coscolluela.
“I am not part of any, Lacson said, stressing also that he will just wait after they file their certificate of candidacy, before making a choice.
Duterte earlier said that she is grateful for those behind the |Run. Sara, Run” campaign, She has repeatedly said that the 2022 presidential race is farthest from her mind, as she is focused on addressing the health and economic problems brought about by the pandemic.
Lacson said that the supporters of the presidential daughter are allowed to hang posters, “as long as they don’t put it in government property of the province”.
But if they put it in the Lagoon perimeter fence, I will ask them to take it out, he said. Himamaylan City Mayor Raymund Tongson has openly admitted of among some Negros Occidental mayors urging Duterte-Carpio to run for president in the next year elections.*
