A cooperative in La Castellana received P4.744 million in assistance from the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) for the Negros Swine Integrated Enterprise.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the turnover of the check to Judith Obordo, La Castellana 1–Personnel Multi-Purpose Cooperative chairperson, at the Provincial Capitol Monday.
They were joined by Albert Barrogo PRDP Region 6 Deputy Project Director, Ma. Lina Sanogal, Provincial Project Management and Implementing Unit Head and Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, and Lorna Dumancas of LC1–PMPC.
The amount is part of the total project cost that includes the enterprise and infrastructure of the project located at Barangay Robles in La Castellana that will be managed by the LC1–PMPC and its cluster members, a Capitol press release said.
The Investments for Rural Enterprises, and Agricultural and Fisheries Productivity (I-REAP) is one of the PRDP components that aims to strengthen and develop viable agriculture- and fishery-based enterprises by providing technical, financial and infrastructure support to eligible groups in targeted project areas within the priority value chains.
Lacson, in his accomplishment report last month, said the province was able to avail P811,819,089 grant comprising of five farm-to-market roads, four post-tension concrete girder bridges, one feeder port, and three enterprise vertical structures from PRDP.
PRDP is a six-year project of the Department of Agriculture designed to establish an inclusive and market-oriented agri-fishery sector through strategic investments in priority commodity value chains.*
